Race rules and regulations

Marathon Plovdiv is an event that includes the following races: 42K Marathon Plovdiv, 21K Half Marathon Plovdiv and Ambelino Kids Run.

Eligible for participation in 42K Marathon Plovdiv are all runners of 18 years of age or older.

Eligible for participation in 21K Half Marathon Plovdiv are runners of 16 years of age or older. Minors’ might be enrolled for participation in the race only if accompanied by an adult athlete during the entire race.

Right to participate in Ambelino Kids Run have children from 6 to 13 years of age. They can run alone or accompanied by older brothers, sisters, relatives or parents. Children have to go independently on the designated route without being worn, pulled or motivated in any way.

Registration for participation in Marathon Plovdiv and Half Marathon is only possible online at www.marathonplovdiv.com. All registrations are considered personal. All children registrations need to be made by the parent of the child when registering in Ambelino Kids Run.

Once registration is complete it is considered final. Registration fees will not be refunded. In case a runner is not able to participate he has the right to receive his/hers starter package after the event, but not later than 5 working days after the event.

In the event of race cancellation due to emergency or unforeseen circumstances, paid registration fees will not be refunded. In such case all runners will be automatically registered for the next edition of Marathon Plovdiv and Half Marathon for their selected distance.

Changes in the registrations are possible and should be requested by the registered person by email info@marathonplovdiv.com no later than 7 days before the date of the race.

Participants wearing race BIB that does not belong to them, with a false BIB, or with a BIB from another race, or running without BIB will be disqualified and removed from the course immediately.

The BIB number must be placed in the front of the competitor´s body, without being folded or covered by equipment.

The course is clearly indicated and marked with barriers, reflective cones, route signs, signalization strips and color spray.

The participants in Marathon Plovdiv and Half Marathon are obliged to follow the course as marked, and to comply with all instructions given by marathon marshals and/or the organizing team. Deviating from the official marathon route may be dangerous to the competitor´s safety, and may result in his / her disqualification.

In an event of proven deviation and shortening of the course route, the participant will be disqualified.

Aggressive and unsportsmanlike behavior, as well as non-compliance with the instructions given by the marathon marshals or the organizing team during the race, will result in disqualification for the competitor and his /her removal from the course immediately.

Competitors for whom the organizing team decides that they are not able to complete the race within the cut-off time, might be removed from the course in order to restore the vehicle traffic on the streets.

Personal pacers are not allowed.

All requests for participation with pets and/or children in strollers should to be e-mailed prior the race to info@marathonplovdiv.com.

The cut-off time for the 42K Marathon Plovdiv is 5h and 30min.

The cut-off time for the 21K Half Marathon Plovdiv is 3 hours.

Timekeeping for Ambelino Kids Run will not be provided.

Marathon Plovdiv & Half Marathon Declaration

The organizing team of Marathon Plovdiv and Half Marathon is working in compliance with the Bulgarian legislation and all professional standards, applicable to race events of large international scale.

Marathon Plovdiv has no commitment regarding the issuance of the necessary visa documents for foreign participants.

The terms: Marathon Plovdiv, race, event, run, start or distance, used within this site and all information materials, only refer to Marathon Plovdiv and Half Marathon and respectively to the chosen race by the runner.

The use of a masculine gender in some parts of the text is preferred to facilitate the speech and in no way tolerates the participation of only male runners.

Marathon Plovdiv collects and processes participants’personal data in strict compliance with the Bulgarian legislation, and takes all precaution to ensure that the received data will be used only for the purposes for which it is provided. The data will not be disclosed to third parties in no way.
