Dear participants in Marathon Plovdiv & Half Marathon,

Congratulations on your choice to join the first edition of Marathon Plovdiv & Half Marathon and thank you for trusting us! We know that each one of you has spent a significant time and efforts for preparation and successful accomplishment of the selected distance. We wish you courage, will welcome you at the finish line with smile, and well deserved medal!

For your smooth participation, please read the information below.

We are looking forward to meeting you exactly 7 days from now, on April 23, 2016 at the Marathon Plovdiv’s Information Centre, to be located on the square "Central" in Plovdiv, from 8.00 am until 8 pm in order to pick up your race package and bib number. It is not necessary to know your bib number in advance, nor to have a medical certificate with you. During registration, you will be asked to sign a declaration for your health status.

The location of the Marathon’s Information Centre you can find here. If you are not able to come in person, ask a friend to pick up your race package for you because we will not hand out race packages in the marathon’s day.

Once you get your race package, take your time to visit our partners exhibition booths at Expo Marathon Plovdiv: Telenor, Maxbike, Biofresh, DressYou, Compressport, SportBox, Maze, Running Zone, Asics, High 5, Doppel Hertz, Maina town, StereoClip and Europe Schools.

On April 23, 2016 at 10.00 am, a kid’s race for children of 6 to 13 years of age will take place, named Ambelino Kids Run. Therefore, in time between 8.00 and 10.00 am the participating kids will enjoy priority registration.

The start of Marathon Plovdiv & Half Marathon is on 24 April 2016 at 9.00am from Square "Central", preceded by a brief opening ceremony of the event. Please be at least 45 minutes earlier in the Start area. There will be a dressing area and a luggage deposit area.

There will be refreshment points at every 5 kilometers. For participants in marathon distance the control points are located at 15 km and 35 km. For Half Marathon participants the control point will be at 10km. Due to the ongoing renovation works at Vasil Aprilov Blvd, we were obliged to make a slight change in the route, which goes around the area under repair, thus runners will enter the Kavala street, and will turn on the Philip Makedonski Street. The route of the Marathon will be flagged with blue signs at every 5 km. The Half Marathon route will be flagged with yellow signs. There will be camcorders at several spots along the route. We have more than 250 volunteers and judges entitled to ensure the smooth running of the race and compliance with the rules for participation. All route streets and boulevards will be closed to vehicle traffic. Traffic will be restored gradually after the passage of the last participant in a given area.
We have provided 2 rescue team of Emergency Medical Aid, Red Cross volunteers and a physiotherapist for the injured runners in the finish area. National Police patrol teams will carry out the route security. All participants and volunteers in Marathon Plovdiv & Half Marathon are insured against accidents.

The cut-off time of Marathon Plovdiv is 5 hours, the Hal Marathon cut-off time I 3 hours. Each participant reached the finish line within the cut-off time will receive a memorable medal. The ranking will be done in two age categories: M / W Marathon and Half Marathon up to 41 years, and M / W Marathon and Half Marathon over 41 years. Winners in Men’s and Women’s up to 41 in the Marathon and Half Marathon distance will receive money prizes. Winners in age category over 41 will be awarded with winner’s plaques and sponsors’ prizes as well. The Marathon’s award ceremony is starting at 12.30 am
